Motivation - a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way

This word is used a lot in our daily lives. Mostly when we're making excuses for not doing something. We say things like 'I have no motivation today' or 'I'm not feeling very motivated'. However I feel that this is a misuse of the word. The meaning above describes motivation as your reason for acting or behaving in a certain way. So I don't believe that some days you have a reason and other days you don't.

The past two weeks I have been very unorganized. I have been out of my routines and skipping workouts. Spending more time re-watching t.v shows instead of looking after myself and getting enough sleep. This is where the term 'feeling unmotivated' would usually creep in. But today I'm ridding that word excuse from my life. Like I said above, motivations are reasons for doing particular things. So here are some of mine..

Exercise - to keep fit, build muscle and improve health. The more I use my body the more energy I will gain.
Read - to always learn new things and keep my mind open to new ideas. Reading gives me a different perspective on things, it calms my mind of it's constant thinking and helps me to fall asleep.
Write - to clear my mind of clutter and rid myself of negative self talk. This is my biggest weakness. I talk myself out of doing that which is beneficial to me and convince myself that my dreams are too big

These are three of the things I try to do daily in order to keep myself feeling positive and happy. They are things I have to make an effort to do. I go through phases of doing them every single day and missing only one thing every now and then. Then there are times when I can't remember the last time I opened a book or picked up a pen. And this gets me down.

So I don't believe that Motivation is what I am lacking, as I have plenty of that! It's Willpower.

Willpower - control exerted to do something or restrain impulses

Having lots of motivation and not a lot of willpower is a difficult thing to deal with. You want to do all of these things more than anything, but your keep talking yourself out of doing them. And later you feel disappointed that you didn't. In order to get back on track you must first find that willpower again.

So over the next week, I am going to find mine. I will make a list of things that I've tried that have helped me and I will post them here for you.
So pop back next Wednesday if you feel you've lost or struggle with your own willpower. With my tested tips you can find it again, here.
